How deep a stump gets ground

A standard grind takes the stump down 15 to 25 centimetres below grade, which is enough to plant grass or a shrub over it. We grind deeper on request when you plan to pave, build a deck footing, or replant a tree in the same spot.

What happens to the grindings

The wood chips from grinding are useful as mulch, and we leave them on-site for you or haul them away, whichever you want. Roots outside the ground-out area decay on their own over the following years, so they don't need separate removal.
