Whether you need a municipal permit comes down to the trunk's diameter, not the tree's height or age. If the tree is a confirmed hazard the fee is waived, though you still pay a refundable replacement-tree security. We give a flat-rate written price before anything is booked, with access and the drop zone confirmed in person.

A lot this tight means the assessment itself takes longer than a straightforward yard removal. We check rigging points, confirm where the locate line runs, and work out how a sectioned trunk gets off the property without crossing a neighbour's line — all before a number goes on the quote.

Where a stump comes out along with the tree, the grinder faces the same access limits. A standard grind still reaches 15 to 25 centimetres below grade, but getting the machine onto a tight waterfront pad can change the order we do the work in.
